The Pathway to Forgiveness: SWIHA Student Blog Series

Posted by Brooke DeBault on 12/1/22 4:00 PM

Forgiveness

For centuries this word has been touted as a nonnegotiable for the betterment of society and the individual. The problem is, although most of us know that forgiveness is a necessity if we want to live a life free from anger and resentment, many of us struggle with understanding exactly what forgiveness means or how to achieve it. After all, forgiveness is merely a blanket term… Used to describe what people should do when faced with the pain of hurt or betrayal. Unfortunately, religious texts and enlightened spiritual leaders frequently fail to describe precisely what forgiveness is, why we should do it, or how it can be attained. With the aim of bridging these gaps, I’ll attempt to answer these questions throughout the course of this blog. Before we get to those answers, let’s first talk a little bit about what forgiveness is not and what it does not do.

Aromatherapy for Spiritual Healing: Create Your Own Energy Clearing Spray

Posted by Jade Marvin on 2/1/22 4:00 PM

Aromatics, resins, incense, and smudging are all great techniques for clearing and protecting an area, asking for guidance and setting intentions. Whether you are a professional or just curious about Aromatherapy for personal use, Aromatherapy is accessible to all. Amy Horn, LMT and one of SWIHA’s Aromatherapy Instructors states, “An energy clearing and protection spray is just one of the ways in which I incorporate healing botanicals into my daily life. Our bodies are so easily synchronized to the healing properties of thousands and thousands of different plant chemicals and energies. As a practitioner, try some aromatherapy in your sessions and document the results. Most often, I see that my clients’ sessions were amplified, with a deeper and more meaningful experience.

Posted by Aidale Scott Crevier on 11/30/21 4:00 PM

Come walk with us

Let me tell you a little bit about myself - my name is Aidale, my friends know me as Lee. I am married to my amazing husband called Bear and we both harvest and make some medicines and forage edible wild foods for our family and friends here in the Northwest of CT. After witnessing the healing properties we were gifted from our land, we have created BearLee Essentials to share the magic Mother Earth has gifted us right from our backyard. We feel self-care, wellness, and connecting back to our wilderness souls and Mother Earth is so important especially after experiencing the many changes we have gone through during the Covid-19 pandemic. I feel we found ourselves wondering how we can be more proactive in our self-healing and health for ourselves and our family.

SWIHA Student Blog: How Holistic Health Relates to Consumption

Posted by Kaylee Agnew on 9/23/21 4:00 PM

Holistic health is truly about caring for the "whole you" this means not just caring for your physical health through diet, exercise, and interventions if necessary, it also means caring for your mental, emotional, and spiritual health. For every individual these are going to vary in importance as well as vary in what works or does not work to help support them along their path to overall health and well-being. This is often described as "treating" the patient, client, or person as a whole- as opposed to treating them as their symptom. In terms of symptoms people often forget they spread far beyond physical ones such as experiencing a runny nose, headache, or cough. Other symptoms include those often associated with one's mental health like generalized feelings of sadness, loneliness, anxiety, etc. These can also be tied to spiritual and emotional health as well. This is why it’s so important to treat the WHOLE individual, as opposed to the symptom, because if you treat the symptom you won’t get to the root cause of the issue, you just cover it up further.
