Have you felt called to help others live healthier, more meaningful lives? Are you drawn to holistic wellness, personal transformation, spirituality, or the idea of creating a business that reflects your values and passions?
Sometimes, the desire to support others begins with your own journey of growth and discovery. You may have explored meditation, energy work, coaching, or other holistic practices and wondered how to turn that interest into a purposeful career.
At Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA), the Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner (IHAP) Diploma offers an opportunity to explore those interests, develop practical skills, and begin building a foundation for your future in the healing arts.
The next on-campus program begins January 11, 2027, in Tempe, Arizona. If this path speaks to you, consider this your invitation to explore what is possible.
What Is the Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner Program?
SWIHA’s on-campus Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner Diploma is a 750-hour program designed to help students explore mind-body-spirit wellness while developing the skills to support others and build a holistic wellness business.
Rather than following a single path, the program allows you to customize your education through a coaching focus and a specialty focus aligned with your interests and future goals.
Your foundational studies introduce you to areas such as:
- Holistic entrepreneurship and business development: Explore what it takes to develop a business around your unique skills, interests, and vision.
- Somatic and transpersonal psychology: Learn about personal transformation, the mind-body connection, and approaches to understanding human experience.
- Coaching skills: Develop tools to support clients as they explore goals, navigate life changes, and identify meaningful next steps.
- Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT): Explore tapping techniques as part of your holistic wellness education.
- Personal development and spiritual coaching: Deepen your self-awareness while exploring ways to support others on their journeys.
Your education is designed to support both personal growth and professional development, helping you begin shaping the kind of practitioner you want to become.
Why Choose the On-Campus Experience?
Learning the healing arts is about more than collecting techniques. It is also about practice, reflection, connection, and discovering how different approaches fit into your life and future work.
At SWIHA’s Tempe campus, you can learn alongside a community of students who share an interest in holistic wellness, personal growth, and meaningful service.
The on-campus environment offers opportunities to engage with instructors, participate in classes, explore new modalities, and connect with others who are also discovering their paths.
You will also begin exploring the entrepreneurial side of the healing arts. For students who envision working independently, developing a private practice, or creating a unique wellness business, business development is an important part of the educational journey.
You do not need to have your entire future figured out before you begin. Part of the experience is discovering which interests resonate most deeply with you and how you might share those gifts with others.
Choose Your Coaching Focus
As part of the IHAP program, students select a coaching focus that helps shape their approach to working with future clients.
Health and Wellness Coaching
Are you passionate about helping people make healthier lifestyle choices? Health and wellness coaching explores ways to support clients as they develop sustainable habits, work toward wellness goals, and navigate obstacles to change.
Intuitive Guidance and Coaching
If you feel drawn to spirituality, intuition, and personal exploration, this focus introduces approaches to intuitive guidance and its practical applications. Coursework explores topics such as angels and guides, along with the business of intuitive guidance.
Life Coaching
Life coaching may appeal to those who want to help others navigate transitions, clarify their goals, and move forward with greater intention. A heart-centered approach emphasizes supporting clients as they explore their own possibilities and next steps.
Each coaching focus offers a different way to begin shaping your future work in the healing arts.
Explore Your Specialty Options
After choosing a coaching focus, you can further customize your education through a specialty focus. Your specialty allows you to spend more time exploring the modalities and areas of service that interest you.

Whether you envision teaching classes, guiding students through relaxation practices, or incorporating yoga into a broader wellness business, this specialty can help you explore how your interests might translate into future service.
From Personal Passion to Professional Purpose
One of the distinctive aspects of the Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner program is its focus on entrepreneurship.
Many people are interested in holistic wellness because of what they have experienced in their own lives. They may have discovered a practice that helped them reconnect with themselves, develop new perspectives, or feel more aligned with their values.
Eventually, that personal interest may grow into a desire to share what they have learned.
Turning that desire into a professional path involves more than passion. It takes education, practice, self-awareness, business knowledge, and a willingness to keep learning.
Through IHAP, you can begin exploring how your interests might come together in a unique professional direction. Your studies can help you identify the people you hope to serve, the modalities you want to explore, and the kind of business or practice you may want to develop.
You do not have to know every detail of your future before enrolling. Sometimes, clarity comes through the process of learning, experiencing new things, and discovering what feels right for you.
