Casey Lozano faced a challenge that most of us face during this lifetime - figuring out what we want to be when we grow up. Casey was going through life with no clear direction. Once she found SWIHA, Casey felt inspired to help others get through similar things she went through. With her past of struggling with her relationship with food, Casey knew that she could relate and offer guidance to future clients. Casey enrolled in the Holistic Health and Wellness Coach program and her journey began! Follow along as Casey shares about her journey through the program, and her plans for the future!

What was your life like before SWIHA? What led you to SWIHA and to your particular program of study? Why are you passionate about this modality?

I felt like my life without SWIHA didn't have a strong foundation on what direction I wanted to go in life. I've always been fascinated by food, creating plant-based childhood-inspired foods and I love being able to educate my future clients. I have also struggled in the past with eating disorders, so I feel like I can inspire and make that connection with others seeking help.

Is there a “defining moment” you’d like to speak about? When did you know that you were on the right path?

I knew I was on the right path when I found myself repeatedly going to the SWIHA website. I had been searching for months to find the best program for me, one that I felt was calling me. Once I enrolled in the program a lot of my classmates had very similar experiences. This is when I knew.

Has your life significantly changed? If so, how?

My life significantly changed since beginning SWIHA. I have a better understanding of my direction in life and an abundance of knowledge that I can't wait to share with my clients. I have gained a community of friends and inspirational Entrepreneurs and a lifetime of knowledge.

What are you up to now—professionally and personally?

Professionally I am currently enrolled as a student and trying to save as much money as I can, working as a Bartender in Downtown Napa Valley (wine country). The money is very good and once school is complete, I will then switch directions and focus on opening my own business. Personally, I am still creating beautiful plant-based meals daily, and keeping my body and mind clean and strong.

What was the greatest lesson(s) you learned while at SWIHA?

The greatest lesson I learned at SWIHA was to put a halt to my procrastination, which is something that I've been dealing with my entire life. I also learned that time is of the essence; that statement couldn't be any truer for me currently.

Who were your most impactful teachers while you studied at SWIHA? What were your favorite classes?

Dee was my favorite teacher last year. I loved her food assignments and her passion for something I'm also very passionate about. She was extremely attentive and was always available to answer questions when they arose.

If you could give advice to future SWIHA students, what would it be?

TAKE NOTES! It goes by quickly! Stay focused on the now, make sure to keep up on Yellow-dig, and ask all the questions you need. SWIHA is an excellent school with a mass number of resources, staff, and personal help in any way they can. I have had a great experience so far.

What else—if anything—would you like us to know about you, your work, and/or your personal journey?

I'm trying my best for where I am in my current situation. Juggling work and school is hard and I fell back, especially when I got sick. I'm determined to get through this!
