Before she ever imagined herself leading wellness workshops or helping women reclaim their self-worth, Markayla Clinton worked as a bank teller—efficient, dependable, and quietly dreaming of something more. Her lifelong curiosity about the human mind and passion for helping others had once led her to study psychology in college. Although life’s twists and turns meant she didn’t complete her degree, that inner calling never faded.
Eventually, Markayla’s desire to serve others in a more personal, transformational way reignited. That’s when she discovered Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA). “I found the perfect program,” she says. “My experience at SWIHA taught me a great deal about myself—my capabilities and potential.” Enrolling in the Holistic Health and Wellness Coaching program, she embarked on a life-changing journey that would help her impact others while deeply healing herself.
A Moment of Clarity
Markayla knew she was on the right path from her very first encounter with SWIHA. She met with an Admissions Coach, who asked insightful, heartfelt questions. “I didn’t have to think about my responses. I simply expressed my feelings, and she made me feel like I truly belonged there.” That moment of connection and clarity silenced any doubts—this was where she was meant to be.
Transforming from the Inside Out
Though she began as a reserved student, unsure of how to navigate new connections, SWIHA’s supportive and inclusive environment gave Markayla the courage to grow. “I met amazing individuals. I wasn’t very talkative at first, yet SWIHA encourages students to connect. I ended up forming friendships that extended outside the classroom, and those friendships became foundational to launching our coaching businesses.”
This personal transformation empowered her to break through fear, build resilience, and embrace her leadership voice.

“All of my teachers helped shape me,” she says. “Their encouragement and expertise helped me grow both professionally and personally.”
