Backstory: I am a lifelong Christian having been born, raised, and completely committed to my faith. In the past, the thought of taking a Reiki class may have given me pause.
Seven years ago, I was in a Reiki Class and had an extraordinary experience as I received an attunement. What I tuned into was a piece of my destiny! In a single moment of unasked-for and unexpected revelation, I received and accepted a divine assignment to bring Holy Reiki to the world without any hesitation whatsoever. Since then, I have been on a journey of daily surrender, feeling incredible solace knowing my steps have been and are being guided by God.
After that fateful calling, I remember thinking there must be Christian Reiki being practiced somewhere in the world. After all, based on my personal faith beliefs, it should be everywhere! However, the more I searched, the more I realized no one seemed to be practicing Reiki informed by beliefs in the trinity —God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. So, I embarked on building a way to combine my faith with the practice of Reiki. Working with trusted colleagues like KC Miller, SWIHA Founder, and Chief Spiritual Officer, we developed a curriculum that brought the two together.
Our first cohort of twelve people launched in May of 2018. Amazingly, that is the same number of disciples who followed Jesus Christ of Nazareth! I remember teaching that first weekend with one thought firmly in my heart, “Please let me be the expression of heavenly love and connection to the students in my class.” I believe God honored my prayer then and has every day since. Over the years, my faith has been strengthened by witnessing the transformative power of prayer in motion with the countless souls who have begun practicing Holy Reiki. It all began with a prayer, and now years later, continues in prayer.
People continually ask if Christianity and Reiki can co-exist. The answer is a resounding, “Yes!”
What is Holy Reiki? Holy Reiki International is a global movement centered around prayer, having trained practitioners who are now practicing around the world. Holy Reiki represents the energy of the Holy Spirit. Emphasizing an experiential connection with the divine rather than a focus on religion, Holy Reiki practitioners invoke God as the source of divine connection. The program is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to individuals of all faiths and belief systems. Our approach involves interceding on behalf of clients and sharing Holy Spirit energy, similar to how all reiki practitioners share energy.
We follow the Whole Armor of God as our protocol for sessions, based on the Holy Bible: Ephesians 6:10-18 (American Standard Version).
“11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 with taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereunto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”
While there are six pieces of armor listed in the Bible, the seventh piece is equally critical. The seventh piece of the armor is prayer. Prayer activates the armor, and this is where miracles happen.
My seeker’s prayer is, “God, I come with a seeker’s heart and ask for your divine and sovereign hand to guide my mind, my body, and my spirit as I place each piece of your armor on myself today. Please allow my awareness to be connected to each piece. May your armor be the light of your presence, empowering me to stand firm against adversity and empowering me with strength, in Jesus' name, I pray, Amen.”
Since our inception in 2017, a community of Holy Reiki Master Teachers has been raised up. It is such an incredible kindredness to be in a community with those who are like-minded. I could have never dreamt or hoped for the amazing souls and family members of the heart that would have been ordained to join this movement. I am truly grateful.
My encouragement to anyone reading this blog is to pursue your dream. Holy Reiki began with a dream, and now it is a movement. If you have a dream, the universe will empower you with the tools, the helpers, and the resources to realize your dream. Don’t wait. Tomorrow will come and go. Today is the day to take that step.
Our next organizational step is to impact our world through the pursuit of our non-profit status, launch a website, continue to develop our board of directors, and stay in prayer.
