Meet Shannon Hogan, a proud graduate of the Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner program at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA). Once feeling lost and disconnected, Shannon found her true calling through holistic healing and the power of integrative wellness. A single transformative session with a client confirmed she was on the right path—and she hasn’t looked back since. Now ordained and running her own healing practice, Shannon blends Reiki, sound therapy, and aromatherapy to help others find balance, purpose, and peace. Her journey is one of passion, growth, and the profound impact of following your heart.
For Shannon, SWIHA wasn’t just a school; it was a life-changing experience. “Before enrolling, I felt lost and disconnected from my true purpose,” she reflects. However, through powerful classes like Mindful Meditation with Lori Dye and Aromatherapy and Herbal Remedies with Jodi Johnson, she gained not just tools and techniques, she gained clarity, confidence, and community. These courses deepened her understanding and ignited her passion for helping others live more balanced, harmonious lives.
A defining moment on her journey came when Shannon facilitated her first holistic healing session outside of class. The experience was profound—for her client and for herself. In that moment, she knew she was exactly where she was meant to be. “It solidified my belief in integrative healing,” she shares, “and showed me that I could truly make a difference.”
Since graduating and becoming ordained, Shannon has launched her own holistic healing practice, Soul Spark, blending Reiki, sound therapy, aromatherapy, and mindfulness techniques to help others reconnect with themselves. Yet her mission doesn’t stop at one-on-one healing—she’s also passionate about education and empowerment, leading workshops and seminars to spread awareness of integrative wellness.
Shannon’s transformation didn’t only happen professionally—it changed her personal life too. Grounded in self-care, she now embraces a lifestyle that includes daily meditation, yoga, gardening, and painting—activities that bring her peace and enhance the quality of care she offers to her clients. “The greatest lesson I learned at SWIHA was the importance of self-care as a practitioner,” she says. “I can’t pour from an empty cup, and this has been the foundation of my work.”
She’s also an advocate for mental health awareness, using her own healing journey as a guiding light to help others find hope, resilience, and renewal. Shannon creates a safe, compassionate space for her clients to explore their emotional, mental, and physical well-being—something she believes is vital in today’s world.
For those considering SWIHA, Shannon’s advice is clear and empowering: “Embrace every class with an open heart and mind. Let yourself grow. Trust the journey. SWIHA is more than a school—it’s a sacred space for transformation.” She continues, “The wealth of knowledge and experience that your instructors and peers bring to the table is invaluable. Take full advantage of the hands-on practice opportunities, as they will significantly enhance your understanding and confidence in each modality.”
“Lastly, trust in your journey. Each step, each class, and each interaction at SWIHA is a building block towards your unique path in holistic healing. Allow yourself to grow, adapt, and discover where your passions truly lie. Your dedication and genuine desire to help others will guide you toward making a meaningful impact in the lives of your future clients. May your time at SWIHA be as transformative and enriching as mine has been.”
Shannon’s story is a reminder to every future healer out there: when you align with your truth and follow your calling, the path unfolds beautifully—and the impact you make is limitless.
