Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming. When nothing is certain, anything is possible”. - Mandy Hale

Timing is everything. For our great graduate Lourdes Menendez, in April of 2019, had a spiritual enlightenment that eventually led her on the path to SWIHA. “On that day, a master spirit connected with me while I was working my shift as Medicaid Advocate for a local hospital. I heard a man's voice whispering "Hypnosis Class" she tells us, “I knew I was on the right path when I received the Brochures and Pamphlets from SWIHA. By touching the paper I felt positive energy. I recalled telling my husband: ‘How sad I feel for not finding this school ten years ago’ and my husband said ‘Ten years ago was not the time; the time is now’.”

Lourdes' life before SWIHA had a calling to help others in need; nevertheless, she knew there was something missing. After her revelation of wanting to explore hypnosis classes, Lourdes enrolled in SWIHA’s Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner online program with an emphasis in Hypnotherapy. Lourdes explains, “My passion about this modality is the extensive field to help others in need: from smoking cessation to fear of flight. Anything and everything in between can be healed through the power of our mind by Hypnotherapy”.

Lourdes’ journey is defined by her values. Lourdes asserts, “I define my values as the foundation of my inner power. My values define my character, standard of behavior and have helped me to deal with difficult decisions in the darkest moments. My values are not negotiable because from them, I have built my credibility as an individual”. This in turn translates to her work and professional life. “My work is outlined by holding a safe place idle of guilt and judgement; for everyone deserves to discover their potential and live a happier and healthier life”. Lourdes explains that right now she is currently volunteering for the Veteran Affairs office by providing complimentary Hypnosis sessions once a week to veterans. Lourdes also volunteers for the CHIP program, as Life Coach for those individuals who are struggling with the transition into plant-based nutrition.

Menendez elucidates, “I still don't own a business or private practice. Nevertheless; my dream is a private practice mainly focused on Smoking Cessation (in memory of both my parents, who were addicted to tobacco). In my dream practice I will provide holistic healing through Hypnosis and Transformational Life Coaching. I will make sure my clients find a sacred place where they can relax and heal at the same time”.

Life after SWIHA has changed for Lourdes Menendez. She concludes, “In every way someone can change... From changing life perspective, embracing stress to grow and gain inner power, by learning how to detox from stress, by appreciating nature even more than before, respecting plants and flowers, reframing mindset, positive self-talk, detecting soft-addictions, etc. and the list can go on and on…

Lourdes Menendez leaves us with her words of wisdom for future students:

  • Plan your week ahead of time.

  • Delegate house chores to your family (you are committed to school; your family will be committed to help you). Team Work!

  • Select one day of the week to rest from school and use that time wisely, that day is your sacred day and much needed!

  • Don't forget that success comes from hard work and determination; not from excuses.
