At Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA), we celebrate students and graduates who courageously follow their calling into holistic wellness. Recent graduate Tina Lorenzo embodies this journey. With over a decade of experience as a nurse, Tina felt drawn to explore deeper, integrative approaches to healing after navigating her own profound challenges and personal transformation. Her path led her to SWIHA’s Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner program with a concentration in Advanced Hypnotherapy, where she discovered new skills and a renewed sense of purpose. Today, Tina is dedicated to helping others nurture their mind, body, and spirit through holistic care, compassion, and empowerment.
Holistic healing offers a profound alternative to conventional wellness models. Practices like hypnotherapy, breathwork, and energy alignment sparked something deep within me. I didn’t just want to learn about these modalities—I wanted to use them to help others find peace and empowerment that once felt out of reach.
There is something sacred about addressing pain, emotion, and inner resistance in a way that honors the whole person. Healing should affirm each client’s unique story, their trauma, their potential, and their innate wisdom. Being a healing arts practitioner isn’t simply a career—it’s a calling. It allows me to integrate empathy, intuition, and science in a way that feels fully aligned with who I am.
The tools that speak to me most—guided visualization, affirmations, progressive muscle relaxation, and trauma-informed hypnotherapy—aren’t just techniques. They’re transformative experiences that reshape how individuals relate to themselves. I’ve seen how intentional breathwork can reduce tension almost instantly, and how grounding techniques can restore emotional regulation for someone whose world feels overwhelming. These methods empower clients to reclaim their nervous systems and rewrite their personal narratives.
Breathwork remains one of the most immediate and accessible ways to restore balance. I’ve experienced its power both personally and through others: how a few mindful breaths can release tension, calm racing thoughts, and open a door to self-compassion. Energy alignment, too, helps clear emotional blockages and reestablish a sense of flow and equilibrium in daily life. Each of these tools offers a pathway to empowerment—equipping clients with practices that extend far beyond the session itself.
What resonates most deeply with me about the healing arts is their integrated approach: the belief that true wellness means tending to the mind, body, and spirit as interwoven aspects of a single being. While conventional models often isolate physical or psychological symptoms, holistic healing encourages deeper exploration. It invites us to listen closely to what our bodies and emotions are telling us, to honor our past experiences, and to embrace healing as an ongoing journey rather than a fixed destination.
Being a healing arts practitioner means bearing witness to the stories my clients carry—their struggles, hopes, and hard-won wisdom. Holding space for someone’s pain and helping them reconnect with their own ability to heal is profoundly meaningful to me. I strive to meet each client as a whole person, never defined by a diagnosis, but seen as someone capable of reshaping their life with the right support.
I see myself as a bridge between clinical understanding and soulful support. My aspiration is to offer trauma-informed, client-centered care that feels safe, inclusive, and empowering. My long-term vision includes expanding my Zenful Body Bliss platform to support individuals experiencing chronic pain and emotional dysregulation. I believe healing should be heart-led, accessible, and rooted in integrity.
SWIHA has been more than a training ground—it has been a pathway of healing. It provided the framework for me to design programs that are educational, ethical, and effective. It reminds me that healing arts practitioners don’t just offer relief—they offer radical transformation. I want my clients to feel safe, seen, and heard. I want them to walk away knowing they are their own best healer.
Becoming a healing arts practitioner is more than a professional ambition—it’s the fulfillment of my purpose. I have experienced firsthand the power of compassionate, holistic care, and I want to share that gift with others, guiding them toward their own light and resilience. Healing, after all, is not about fixing what’s broken—it’s about nurturing what is whole, wise, and worthy within each of us.
