From Employee to Entrepreneur: Carmen Payne Found Her Purpose Coaching Others

Posted by Taylor Jablonowski on 1/11/19 8:00 AM

In 2012, Carmen Payne was working in IT Project Management. She describes herself at that time as stressed out, spread too thin, and conflicted between work and personal commitments.

“I had lost my true self in this identity and my relationships at home and at work were suffering,” Carmen tells us, “An email announcing my 20th Anniversary popped into my inbox and I had a realization that I simply could not exist like this anymore.  I pulled out my resume and looked back on my amazing career and asked myself: ‘What used to make me jump out of bed in the morning and bound through the office doors?’  The role that literally lifted itself off the page at me was when I was training and coaching people.”

A Recipe for Success: Janet Lee Serves Some Wisdom on Integrating Life Coaching and Nutrition

Posted by Taylor Jablonowski on 1/8/19 8:00 AM

My personal favorite quality of Janet Lee’s, a Holistic Nutrition instructor at SWIHA, is that she can make a heavenly cheesecake--and it’s all nutritious, raw vegan ingredients! A close contender is her ability to deliver her wisdom and knowledge in a relatable, engaging way. Each interaction, you’ll come away with a fascinating food fact or thinking: “Wow! I didn’t know I could do that with my veggie scraps.”

“I’ve always enjoyed hearing about people’s journeys,” she explains, “and I thought [Life Coaching] would be a nice compliment to my interest in nutrition coaching.”

When Jillian Holper first enrolled at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, she kept telling everyone she knew: “‘It’s as if the Universe materialized a school just for me’. I was almost in shock the first couple of months!”

Jillian completed the Mind-Body Transformational Psychology degree program and believes Life Coaching and Hypnotherapy have been the tools with which she’s created the best version of herself.

“It has allowed me to understand the way humans operate on a deeper level than I could've ever realized,” she says, “Most importantly, it’s given me the absolute honor of seeing what incredible things we can do when someone holds the space for us to heal. I Made a Vision Board & This is What it Taught Me About My Goals (You Should Do It For 2019!)

Posted by Taylor Jablonowski on 12/27/18 2:00 PM

Hello everyone! Taylor here.

Being immersed in SWIHA-land for the past three years, I’ve heard a lot about vision boards. In fact, many of my coworkers keep them in their offices. They’re full of travel photos, symbols of prosperity and health, wishes for love and plenty of inspirational quotes. I love looking at other’s vision boards because I get to learn so much about their dreams and priorities.

With the new year approaching at lightspeed, I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to accomplish in 2019. So, I woke up this morning and decided to create my very first vision board! I grabbed my scissors and glue, found an unused canvas and began hunting for old magazines…to no avail. My on-going quest to live minimally has me reading digital copies of everything and immediately recycling junk mail.

For over two decades, Southwest Institute of Healing Arts has held the belief that healing takes place within mind, body and spirit. After all, it makes intuitive sense when you consider that we are multifaceted beings with many different energetic components.

We’re thrilled to finally see allopathic medicine and modern neuroscience embrace holistic modalities and confirm what we’ve felt all along: that we must treat the full being for true transformation to occur.  From major corporations employing nutrition advisors and life coaches, to chiropractors partnering with energy workers, we see traditional and modern healing coming together and igniting major change!

Spiritual Serendipity: Andrea Aizlewood Refined Her Intuitive Gifts

Posted by Taylor Jablonowski on 10/11/18 2:24 PM

“Since childhood, I have been quite intuitive,” says Andrea Aizlewood, a SWIHA Online graduate. Andrea always knew that she had unique spiritual skills waiting to be discovered and refined; she could receive emotions from those those around her, recognize synchronicities, and even sense energies. Her gifts were so strong, however, that they initially intimidated her.

“I closed up out of fear,” she explains, “I closed up for almost a decade, all through my early twenties.”

It was only when her one-year-old showed signs of the same intuition Andrea possessed, that a new-found interest in exploring her abilities was sparked:  “I saw my son wave at my long-deceased grandmother [who I felt] standing in the corner of the room. It made me realize that I had to get over my fears so that I could be there for my son to teach him how to protect himself and learn his own gifts.”
