Spiritual Coach Sophia Duhon Finds Purpose in Helping Others Discover Their Own Personal & Spiritual Path

Written by Sophia Duhon | 1/16/23 3:00 PM

Sophia Duhon is a recent graduate of Southwest Institute of Healing Arts’ Spiritual Coach & Celebrant program as well as the Life Coaching Program. Today, Sophia shares her story of how she incorporates intentionality into her everyday life as well as her holistic practice. With practicing intention, Sophia was able to find her life’s calling to help others on their healing journey.

What was your life like before SWIHA? What led you to SWIHA and to your particular program of study? Why are you passionate about this modality?

Before SWIHA, I felt extremely lost in terms of what I wanted to do with my life & how I wanted to serve others. When I realized that Spirituality was my calling, I finally felt a huge sense of understanding for myself and the world, as well as comfort in my purpose of healing others, as well as myself. I’m passionate about this because it is so important for everyone to find their own personal spiritual path, and I know I’ve learned a lot doing that for myself so now I enjoy helping others along the way!

How does intention & mindfulness show up in your life?

Intention & Mindfulness have always been an everyday part of my life, or at least I try to incorporate them as often as possible to help with my occasionally overwhelming anxiety. Since graduating from SWIHA, I’ve incorporated even more mindfulness & space for creating intentions within my personal spiritual ceremonies, and especially within my coaching practice. One of my favorite things to work on with my clients is Intention Crafting - sort of like Goal Attracting/Law of Attraction. However, I like the word Intention so much more because it serves the same motivational & inspirational purpose as the word Goal while removing the pressure surrounding the idea that we “have to achieve our goals or else we’re failing” - which is not healthy to believe and extremely counterintuitive.

What did your life look like when you weren't living with intention?

It definitely looked a little messy & maybe even a little bitter, as I searched for the things that set my soul on fire and filled me with the drive to create powerful intentions for my life.

What goals did you have the past year and how did living with intention help you reach them?

One of my major goals was to expand my coaching practice & reach more clients! I set this intention for myself, and I’m happy to say that with lots of hard work I’ve learned and grown a lot as a coach, and I have been able to expand my clientele!

What advice do you have for those wanting to live with intention and mindfulness?

Keep going after the things that truly make you happy! Don’t do it for anyone else - do it for you! Once you’ve aligned yourself with these things, intention building & mindfulness almost become second nature as your life becomes more harmonious with your true soul purpose. The only way to figure out exactly what your purpose might be is by trying new things daily until you find what makes you joyful & at peace.

Anything else you want to add about living ON-PURPOSE?

Nothing happens by accident. Start accepting this necessary fact and then you’ll be able to see the little lessons presented to us in good & bad situations, on both a human and cosmic level.
