Sometimes, the path to purpose is born from the deepest uncertainty. For Sherronda Davis, it began with a bold, life-altering choice—to leave behind the familiar, move into her car, and search for something more meaningful. In the midst of emotional and physical transition, she found the courage to rediscover herself. What started as a quest for personal healing soon unfolded into a powerful journey of transformation, leading her toward a life of purpose as a Holistic Health and Wellness Coach.
Before enrolling at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA), Sherronda felt trapped—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She was working jobs that drained her spirit and offered no real sense of purpose. Though she had always held an interest in holistic practices like meditation, her approach had been inconsistent, like dipping a toe in the water yet never fully diving in. Still, a deeper part of her knew she was being called to something greater, something that aligned with her values and innate desire to help others.
That call led her to SWIHA’s Holistic Health & Wellness Coaching program.
“I wanted to learn about the body, nutrition, and how to support myself and others, in living healthier lives,” Sherronda shares. “There’s so much information out there, and I realized that people often just need someone to really listen—someone to help them sort through the noise and be their support system. I didn't always have that, and I want to be that for others.”
The Awakening
Sherronda’s journey at SWIHA was not defined by a single turning point, it was the many small, powerful moments that added up to something extraordinary. It was during practice coaching sessions with classmates that she began to truly understand her role—which isn’t giving advice, it’s to help others uncover their own answers through thoughtful questioning and empathetic presence.
One especially impactful moment came during a lesson on disease. As a Black woman navigating the medical system, Sherronda experienced what it felt like to be truly seen and validated by a teacher who acknowledged her perspective with compassion. That simple act of care solidified her sense of belonging and purpose.
“That moment meant the world to me,” she recalls. “It was validating and unforgettable. I knew I was exactly where I needed to be.”
Inner Transformation
Through her studies, Sherronda began to heal herself. She dove deep into emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and holistic nutrition. Reading Marc Brackett’s “Permission to Feel” became a life-changing experience—helping her accept her emotions without judgment and teaching her how to move forward with grace and intention.
“Before SWIHA, I didn’t fully understand how to manage my emotions. Now, I can sit with them, honor them, and let them guide me—not control me.”
This internal clarity was the foundation she needed to begin coaching others and to become the kind of coach she herself had needed during difficult times.
A Vision for the Future
While Sherronda is still in the process of launching her coaching business, her vision is vivid and purposeful. She plans to offer one-on-one coaching, lead empowering retreats for spiritually-minded women, and create a community centered on connection, healing, and inspiration. She also dreams of creating educational and personal blogs, along with products that support her clients’ journeys.
At the heart of it all is her desire to help women, especially those who feel stuck or unsure of their path, discover their inner light and move forward with confidence.
“When I first started, I thought I’d just be teaching meditation,” she says. “However, I’ve learned that there are so many ways to help someone find peace. Meditation is powerful, yet so is learning how to feel. How to ask the right questions. How to really see someone.”
Words of Wisdom
To future SWIHA students, Sherronda offers this heartfelt advice:
“Keep going. The road may get hard; you’re on this path for a reason. The teachers here truly care and will give you everything you need to succeed. You’ll learn so much more than you ever expected—and find out that you’re capable of more than you ever dreamed.”
Though her journey hasn’t been easy—navigating financial strain, emotional lows, and life’s many obstacles—Sherronda has emerged stronger, wiser, and more grounded in her purpose. She credits SWIHA and her teachers for helping her feel seen and supported, even when other aspects of her experience were challenging.
“The day I decided to follow my dreams of being a Holistic Health and Wellness Coach, I was overwhelmed with fear and doubt. Yet I knew I was being called to do something with meaning—and now, I’ve found my purpose.”
From living in her truck to living in her truth, Sherronda Davis is proof that even in the darkest moments, the light of purpose can lead the way. And for every woman she coaches, she will be that light—guiding them back to themselves, helping them rediscover their power, and reminding them that healing is always possible.
