Adrienne Rue-Brock was living a life full of stress, unhealthy habits, and anxiety which resulted in her being diagnosed with several illnesses. Her body was crying for help, and she knew she needed change. Adrienne desired to seek a holistic way of healing herself and became inspired to want to help others do the same. Adrienne knew that by enrolling in the Holistic Health and Wellness Coach Diploma program with a concentration in Holistic Nutrition, that she would be able to achieve these goals. Adrienne shares, “I became physically ill and was diagnosed with anxiety, high blood pressure, and was pre-diabetic. The physical illness my doctor stated was due to my being under a lot of stress, which brought about all the other conditions. I am a believer in natural cures and started to seek out alternative medicines and therapy and that's when I found SWIHA.”

I knew that by choosing Health and Wellness from a Holistic viewpoint I would be able to heal and become whole, and able to control my mind and behavior. To know ones self is to heal from within, to become transparent to others is to reach out and help others to heal and become whole as well” asserts Adrienne. SWIHA offers a program, unlike many other schools, in the fact that SWIHA uses a holistic lens, and looks at health overall as a whole connection between mind-body-spirit.

As classes began, it was only more of a confirmation for Adrienne that she was in the right place and program. Adrienne shares, “As my classes started I started to awaken. It was as if I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. It felt good just being in the presence of all the instructors, and every one of them reached out their hand to pull me up when I started to fall back. I knew then that that was God calling me into something that is much bigger than myself.” SWIHA’s mission statement includes the purpose of helping our students and graduates find their gifts and graces to help serve others. Adrienne experiencing the feeling of ‘this mission is bigger than myself’ aligns so perfectly with the idea of serving others and helping them heal.

Now having graduated from the program, Adrienne reflects on her time as a SWIHA student and concludes, “My life is so much better, I feel so much more fulfilled and enlightened, I feel a power within me that wasn't there before. And my health has improved a great deal, as well as my mindset.” Adrienne is in the process of receiving her bachelor's degree from another school, as well, she has decided to go into Ministry to teach God’s Word. “Teaching His people about health and wellness according to the scriptures. And next year I will also be teaching dance and fitness classes” says Adrienne. As far as her studies and the skills she gained at SWIHA, Adrienne is working on starting her very own childcare business that is not yet open. Adrienne shares, “I've always wanted my own school so that I can teach children about life and the world we live in. To build a solid foundation for them. Through my Ministry I want to help others as well, allowing the homeless and the children with no homes only a place to lay their heads for a moment. I impact parents by being honest and open with them, reassuring them that their children will be in the best care and that their children will excel in school and in this life.”

The greatest takeaway Adrienne recalls she gained from SWIHA is “I learned to become patient, understanding towards myself. The greatest lesson was the video on the power of YET, I live by this now. I know it is okay to live, learn, heal, and love.”

SWIHA has given me the courage to stand in my being, and to stand tall and proud. To be unapologetically ME!!! To be as knowledgeable and stay current on what's going on in the healthcare industry so that I can be better prepared to receive and help my clients. And lastly, to take care of myself first, to seek out therapy, to stay whole and healthy, setting an example for my clients, to be a living example of health and wellness.”
