Getting Comfortable In the Uncomfortable: The Healing Work of Toe Reading

Taylor Grace is one of Southwest Institute of Healing Arts’ inspired Toe Readers who remembers watching KC Miller do this healing work: “My first Toe Reading was by KC Miller. Watching her work through other people was an amazing experience. She helped me with quite a few things on my personal journey, and it’s the inspiration people get with her that inspires us.” Taylor found a connection to Reiki back in 1996, and then attended one of SWIHA’s Gifts and Graces for the first time, eleven years later in 2007. She knew she wanted to become a student, and so the program she initially signed up for was Life Coaching, then found herself on our conscious college community in the Mind-Body Wellness Practitioner program, in which she studied Hypnotherapy, more Reiki, and Toe Reading. She reflected on the Toe Reading classes: “I remember noticing how respectful of an art it was, yet the truth in it was mind-twisting. It made me feel uncomfortable! You get to know yourself really well when you study healing. This is a process.”

We asked her why she thought people were drawn to this modality, and she believes because of its whimsical nature. “What they don’t realize is that they’re showing you a mirror.

The ego brings a resistance like, ‘Who are you to say you see me?’

As a practitioner, one of my greatest ‘Ah-ha!’ moments was being a witness to the amazingness of a client being seen for the first time. Seeing the ‘Wow!’ on their face was incredible. If I had to call Toe Reading something else, I’d call it ‘Soul-to-Soul Coaching’!” In Taylor’s own process of being seen, she shared that all of SWIHA, not just Toe Reading, made her feel nurtured at loved through the her whole transformational experience. “It will change your life, that’s all there is to it. Life goes by us so quickly, and sometimes we forget what we’ve been through. Learning or receiving a Toe Reading slows it all down so you can process.”

And that is the beauty of this work: the possibility that no matter where you have come from, what you have been through, or how invisible you feel or have felt, something magical and sacred is held in that gaze between client and practitioner. It could change the future course of your life. What an absolutely amazing place to sit: either in the seat as a Seeker, or at their feet as Soul-Seer. ❤

Toe Reading is a unique and captivating healing art, which uses active listening, powerful, soul-searching questions, and deeply skilled insight to help people create change in their lives. It is the art of sitting before someone and witnessing their very being, their life story. Toe Reading is based on the theory that each individual records a holograph of the story of their life and stores it within the body. The position and shape of the toes contain this story, which can be read by a skilled practitioner.
